Portsmouth tide gauge site
The brick tide gauge building is located on Victory jetty in Portsmouth Royal Naval Base.

Tide gauge location
The measuring system is located on the south west corner of Victory jetty. In the building there is an instrument cabinet with a pneumatic bubbler system with two full-tide and mid-tide sensors.
The tide gauge is levelled to the tide gauge bench mark supported by Ordnance Survey auxiliary marks.

Site history
1960 – A Lea gauge was installed over the stilling well in the tide gauge building at Kings Stairs jetty
1991 – The DATARING system was installed with two full-tide bubbler systems
1999 – A new tide gauge site was established on Victory jetty; two full-tide and mid-tide bubblers were installed
2001 – POL data logger installed
