Tide gauge location
The tide gauge system is housed in an instrument cabinet in the tide gauge store room. There is also an Ott pneumatic chart recorder in the room attached to the bubbler system. The pneumatic tubes run down the jetty and the pressure points are fixed to a jetty leg.
The tide gauge is levelled to the tide gauge bench mark supported by Ordnance Survey auxiliary marks.External users

Site history
1966 – A Lea gauge was installed at Keppel Pier and operated by the University Marine Biological Station
1983 – The tide gauge structure was in poor condition and has been demolished
1985 – A new pier has been built
1985 – The DATARING system was installed with a single full-tide bubbler and a potentiometer attached to an Ott pneumatic gauge
1995 – All equipment removed for the refurbishment of the tide gauge room
1996 – New full- and mid-tide bubblers installed; the pneumatic tubes along the jetty were also replaced
2001 – New POL data logger installed
2003 – Jetty legs required refurbishment, and a temporary seabed frame mounted with pressure points was installed
2004 – New full- and mid-tide bubblers installed
